“Still I Rise”

The Poem “Still I Rise” is about Maya Angelou bringing light to the horrible history of the world with slaves and how whites treated other races which was disgusting.

The effect of Maya Angelou repeating ‘I Rise’ five times shows self-belief and hope, because what she means is she has fallen so many times yet she has risen every time no matter what the circumstances.

The Quote “I laugh like I’ve got gold mines diggin in my own backyard,” When Maya Angelou says this, she means that everything she has gotten she has worked for so now she doesn’t have many worries with money.

Another quote “Leaving behind nights of terror and fear,” Maya Angelou says this because she is leaving behind her horrible past and how people have treated her.
